Questo lavoro decennale parla della mia terra, La Valtellina. Racconta della sua gente e del suo rapporto con l’ambiente, in montagna spesso sinonimo di sacrificio. E’ l’area alpina con più pascoli d’altura (oltre 2000 metri) in assoluto, lo spostamento delle mucche in alpeggio all’inizio di giugno è una tradizione secolare tutt’ora attiva. Queste pratiche rivestono un’importanza centrale non solo economica – grazie alla produzione di rinomati formaggi – ma soprattutto per gli aspetti aspetti storici e culturali che questo mondo conserva e rinnova, un patrimonio inestimabile che costituisce la memoria di modi di governo delle risorse naturali, di antichi saperi, di economie sostenibili. In un mondo dominato dalla fretta non sappiamo più soffermarci sulla realtà che ci circonda, sui segni del passato, lassù ancora oggi esiste un mondo rurale senza tempo, profondamente radicato nella cultura contadina alpina e che scandisce la vita di questa gente e delle sue vallate.

Terra Mala is my long-term project on the impact of environmental pollution on communities in several Italian regions: Sicily, Campania and Veneto region. The first chapter was about the so-called “land of fires,” near Naples, where the constant burning of toxic waste has brought environmental devastation and greatly elevated rates of cancer. The second chapter examines the lives of people living near the vast petrochemical complex in east Sicily. Here, over decades, the petrochemical industry and illegal waste disposal have contaminated the soil, air and water: both fish and people show an increased frequency of malformation, including spina bifida. The third chapter is about Veneto, in northern Italy, where Miteni Spa, an Italian company affiliated to American chemical manufacturer DuPont, managed – for decades – to discard the carcinogenic industrial chemicals known as PFAS or “Forever Chemicals,” into the local water system.

Il mondo rom è tra i più diffcili e complessi e sopratutto è un popolo che è stato da sempre discriminato. Mi sono occupato di loro oltre venti anni fa, cercando di entrare il più possibile nella loro complicata realtà. In questo particolare periodo mi sono riavvicinato alle baraccopoli dove ancora vivono Li ho ritrovati spaesati, soli, più di prima. Sono stato per due mesi con loro, grazie anche all’Associazione 21 luglio che ha distribuito pacchi alimentari per i più piccoli e ha così permesso un minimo sopravvivenza. I campi rom a Roma sono in una condizione peggiore da quando sono stati trasferiti fuori dai centri abitati.: il campo di Castel Romano è il più grande della capitale, nato nel 2005, ospita 650 persone che vivono in prefabbricati diventate baracche. Manca elettricità e acqua potabile; immersi da spazzatura e carcasse di automobili, ratti e tubi rotti, il tutto in u terreno che con la pioggia si inonda e diventa fango.

I was born with wild blood from two outlaw biker parents from the eastern shore of Maryland. Growing up in a broken home situation, I was in and out of numerous juvenile detention centers, what society considered a juvenile delinquent and believed to be another statistic in the system. At 18, I left the eastern shore of Maryland with a duffle bag of clothes, a skateboard, & only $100 in my pocket to San Francisco. For some years, I was homeless, hitchhiking throughout America, squatting, sleeping outside, & trying to survive on the streets. Many years later, when I picked a camera, I felt it fitting to document environments I was familiar with growing up & on the streets. “Devil lived” is a reportage of these socially striking moments on the streets and offbeat places, the bizarre & sincere encounters with people living a lunacy life of rough decisions, lustfulness, violence, alcohol, & another captivating incident within America’s social underbelly.

Le malformazioni del tipo della sindrome di Down, dovute ad un individuabile errore genetico, sono facilmente diagnosticate con il ricorso all’ingegneria genetica. In Danimarca le nascite con la Sindrome sono diminuite in media del 13% all’anno. Il quotidiano danese ‘Berlinske’ nel 2012 pubblicò la notizia che i nati Down, arriveranno a scomparire del tutto entro il 2030″, rendendo così la nazione scandinava il primo Paese al mondo ‘Down Syndrome free’. La questione di cosa renda un individuo idoneo o meno è complessa e non può essere ridotta a un’unica caratteristica o parametro. Ciascun individuo ha una propria unicità e una propria dignità, che non possono essere misurate sulla base della capacità produttiva o di altre caratteristiche superficiali. In sintesi, dobbiamo fare attenzione a non considerare la perfezione come un traguardo assoluto, ma piuttosto riconoscere e valorizzare la diversità e la dignità di ogni individuo.

Il nuovo Corviale chiamato anche “Serpentone” è un Palazzo lungo circa 1 km che sorge in periferia ovest di Roma, nato alla fine degli anni ‘70 per fronteggiare la crisi abitativa. Sin dalla sua nascita questo luogo è stato sinonimo di degrado e delinquenza soprattutto per un malessere gestionale , tanto da farlo diventare uno dei quartieri simbolo di Roma. La storia vede uomini e donne catapultati in un luogo privo di infrastrutture, con addosso ancora le ferite causate dallo strappo dello sfratto di massa, costrette ad un convivere per forza o per ragione. Persone che hanno dovuto riorganizzare la loro vita con mille difficoltà, cercando di reinventarsela, di colorarla, di viverla con nuove regole e soprattutto con il fai da te. Mentre da anni si parla di riqualificare il Corviale, facendo progetti sulla materia, il mio intento è stato quello di dare voce e far conoscere l’umano dei piu’ deboli o meglio gli “invisibili” di cui spesso ci si dimentica, o si parla in modo stereotipato

Scampia is a district north of Naples. Built during the second half of the 20th century, at the height of a post-earthquake devastation, it has become famous for its futuristic sail-shaped buildings, designed by architect Franz di Salvo. It has become a ghetto plagued by crime, an emblem of social and urban decay, and today one of the most populated districts in the city with the highest unemployment rates. In 2020 the municipality of Naples demolished one of the four sails still standing, thanks to a current redevelopment project of the territory. Seemingly resolved, the demolition has instead caused a true exodus of displaced people, forced to occupy the lodgings in the remaining three buildings. This photographic project focuses on the intimate life of the neighbourhood. My images want to bring forth a condition of life, caused by loneliness and abandonment rooted from childhood, where everything becomes fragile and complicated. Scampia appears as a microcosm in which its inhabitant

Dainaly, ventidue anni, è una ragazza autistica, nata e cresciuta in una famiglia circense. Ama il Circo, è la sua casa, fatta di sogni e colori. Qui i personaggi del suo universo possono prendere vita, qui la sua fantasia può tessere le sue trame, solo qui Dainaly non è sola, sempre circondata dall’affetto dei suoi cari. Il Circo, quel mondo dove tutto sembra finto, diventa l’universo delle possibilità, teatro incondizionato, dove può declinare le sottili sfumature del suo universo immaginifico, così impenetrabile e talvolta indecifrabile e segreto. Da anni seguo Dainaly, con pazienza e con l’aiuto della sua famiglia, sono entrata in contatto con la sua quotidianità, fatta di piccoli gesti quotidiani, del suo rapporto speciale con gli animali e con i membri della sua famiglia Sua madre dice spesso “Dainaly è amore e riceve amore”. L’amore è l’unica chiave possibile per decifrare l’intricata trama del suo modo di relazionarsi con i suoi cari e con il resto del mondo.

On February 24, 2022, the troops of the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine. From that day, the most important military conflict since the WW2 takes place just outside the boarders of my country. The conflict which, from its very beginning, has been shaping the geopolitics of not only region, but also the whole world. I found myself in Ukraine for the first time at the beginning of March 2022. I came to Lviv from Medyka (Poland), where I worked on the Polish-Ukrainian border as a volunteer during the first 3 weeks of the war. I haven’t been doing documentary photography for several years. But in the face of such a great tragedy as full-scale war right next to me, I decided to move to Ukraine and document the war. The archive I am working on now has several hundred photos. I would like to continue my work until the end of the war, but also after it. The photos attached here were taken all over Ukraine in the period between March and September 2022.

The work investigates the everyday life inside an estancia near El Calafate, Argentina, through the production of dream images that try to interpret the subjects by placing them in a micro-world alternated by tender and harsh moments in which death is conceived as part of the journey in one’s life on this earth, which slowly takes back its own things and time. Here time seems to stop to make room for a deafening silence permeating everyday life. In this particular context people become dream symbols and the real protagonists of a short photographic novel where men and animals measure themselves against nature and its time. This series was taken in January 2019, in the province of El Calafate south of Argentina.
